What Do You
Say After You Say Hello?
Training for "Telephone
Ambassadors", Administrators
and
Congregational/Organizational
Leadership
Thursday, October 18, 2007 w
9:00 AM-12:00 PM
Held at Temple Beth Elohim,
10 Bethel Road, Wellesley,
MA
Whenever the phone rings or
a first email inquiry
arrives, the person who
answers is an ambassador
representing your
congregation/organization.
The response to an
individual exploring a first
connection with the Jewish
community, via the phone or
even email, may shape a
lifetime of involvement. The
warmth, welcome and
information that your
"Telephone Ambassador"
provides create a lasting
impression, not only of your
congregation/organization,
but often of Judaism
itself.
This training will enable
telephone receptionists,
administrators and key lay
leaders to become more
responsive to the questions
first-time callers,
especially those in
interfaith relationships,
are likely to present.
Congregational/organizational
teams are encouraged to
attend together. Materials
for your entire professional
staff will be provided to
reinforce the skills and
information provided in this
morning of specialized
“Telephone Ambassadors”
training.
Registration is $18 per
congregational team which
includes all training
materials and continental
breakfast.

Making Jewish
Choices: Think Tank with Gil
Preuss, CJP Vice President
of Strategy & Planning on
the Newly Released CJP
Survey Data Analysis on
Intermarried Families
Raising Jewish Children For
Clergy, Educators,
Administrators and Key Lay
Leaders
Wednesday, October 24, 2007
w 9:00 AM-12:30 PM
Held at Temple Beth Shalom,
670 Highland Avenue,
Needham, MA
CJP’s 2005 Boston Community
Survey revealed that 60% of
intermarried households in
the greater Boston area are
raising their children
within Judaism. Newly
released data analysis of
these families now clearly
demonstrates that across a
variety of measures, there
is significant
congregational affiliation,
engagement with Jewish
rituals, and a serious
commitment to Jewish
learning in these homes.
This Think Tank will provide
a presentation of the very
latest survey data followed
by an interactive discussion
on new strategies to engage
and integrate intermarried
families into our
communities.
Registration is $18 per
congregational team which
includes all training
materials and continental
breakfast.

Responding to Children from
Interfaith Families in Your
Religious School
For Clergy, Educators and
Key Lay Leaders
Tuesday, November 27, 2007 w
8:30 AM-2:30 PM
Held at Temple Shalom, 175
Temple Street, Newton, MA
A significant percentage of
children in our religious
schools come from families
where one parent was not
born Jewish. What
particular issues do
children from interfaith
families or extended
families present in our
classroom settings?
How do we reinforce the
Jewish identity of these
children while being
respectful of their exposure
to other religions through
their extended family?
How do we nurture Jewish
choices and learning for all
of the parents of our
students, especially those
who did not themselves
experience a Jewish
childhood? This
interactive training will
engage participants in
shaping educationally
appropriate responses to
real classroom situations.
The day will include text
study on intermarriage and
conversion with an
opportunity to examine how
we might use these texts in
our classroom settings.
Congregations/schools are
encouraged to attend in
teams. Registration is
$55 per team which includes
all training materials,
continental breakfast and a
kosher diary luncheon.
